Former Chargers All-Pro Shawn Merriman Criticizes Pro Bowl Selection Process, Calls for Reform

Former Chargers All-Pro LB Shawn Merriman ripped the new Pro Bowl standards and says the league needs to make the game as meaningful as it used to be.

“I have a Pro Bowl helmet that I walk by almost everyday. It’s signed by some of the best players in the history of the NFL, legends, HOF’ers and real GOAT’s. The Pro Bowl use to be a badge of honor and respected. Things have changed,” Merrimam wrote on X.

Merrimam said his criticism of the game is not explicitly directed at Shedeur Sanders, and it’s more about the process:

“When did this come about Shedeur? It’s not his fault, he wasn’t standing on the corner of the NFL building lobbying for the Pro Bowl but their has to me a better system in place for guys to make it.”
