The last 12:50 of game “BANCHED”
Derrick Henry, who rushed for 128 yards on 18 carries (7.1 YPC) and 2 TD, was inexplicably BENCHED for the final 12:50 of Sunday night’s loss to the Patriots due to “scheduled rotations.” 🤔
After Henry’s 2-yard touchdown run at the start of the 4th-quarter, the Ravens turned to Keaton Mitchell for the next two drives, and John Harbaugh admitted postgame that he would’ve preferred to have Henry in even though the team was following the rotation plan.
“Looking back, would I rather have Derrick starting the drive? Yeah. But Derrick was kind of ready for Keaton to start that drive, and he was planning on coming in next. So they were working that rotation,” Harbaugh said.
“You look back on it, and I think it’s pretty easy to say, ‘Hey, he should have been in there or shouldn’t have been in there.’ But we’re rotating those guys throughout the game as two backs. But yeah, game-winning drive, do I want Derrick Henry on the field? Sure, I do want him on the field.”
With Lamar Jackson sidelined with a back injury, the Ravens should’ve relied on Henry even more, but they instead kept him on the sideline with their playoff hopes on the line.
Mitchell finished the game with 13 yards on 9 carries (1.3 YPC).
